Is it bias or common sense

It was inferred because I posted something I do not care about truth. Well that is blatantly false and so as I usually do I went and read what was explained to me as a very concise and well done article. It was well worth the read because it really helped me formulate something that has been bothering me ever since the terrible tragedy occurred.  It was the article by David Sirota and his wish that the Boston Terrorist was a white guy. He then goes into a long diatribe about white privilege which is very predictable and loaded with all kinds of stereotypes and outright lies. His “fear” is that good Muslims will be senselessly targeted by right wing white guys. He implies, as does our government unfortunately, that right wing Christians are much more dangerous then Muslim Extremists to our country. So I decided… I am going to research this! I tried every combination of words I could think of and I literally came up with a handful of names…when those names are examined maybe two of them are truly right wing/christian extremists… Timothy McVeigh and Scott Roeder. The others that get lumped in there were actually more left wing than right ring.  For example …Andrew Joseph Stack who flew his plane into an IRS building in Texas is often put on the right side but read his manifesto. here are some quotes:

“…institutions like the vulgar, corrupt Catholic Church…”

“The intent of this exercise and our efforts was to bring about a much-needed re-evaluation of the laws that allow the monsters of organized religion to make such a mockery of people who earn an honest living.”

“The recent presidential puppet GW Bush and his cronies in their eight years certainly reinforced for all of us that this criticism rings equally true for all of the government.”

“The communist creed: From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.

The capitalist creed: From each according to his gullibility, to each according to his greed.”

Doesn’t sound right wing to me! And then what about Eric Rudolph in an interview with USA Today:

“Many good people continue to send me money and books,” Rudolph writes in an undated letter. “Most of them have, of course, an agenda; mostly born-again Christians looking to save my soul. I suppose the assumption is made that because I’m in here I must be a ‘sinner’ in need of salvation, and they would be glad to sell me a ticket to heaven, hawking this salvation like peanuts at a ballgame. I do appreciate their charity, but I could really do without the condescension. They have been so nice I would hate to break it to them that I really prefer Nietzsche to the Bible.”

I have to admit that I was surprised because of all the chatter on the left of the dangers of right wing extremists that it was very hard to find more than a few.

Now… from 1972 until and including the Boston attack … there have been 70 attacks by Muslim extremists causing the deaths of 3101 people. These numbers are just here in our country and doesn’t include  the bombing of the USS Cole, the Iran Hostages or Benghazi or any of the other dozens of attacks on Americans on foreign soil.  While in this country Muslim Americans killed in retaliation by “white guys” … one…..

So Mr. Sirota over at Salon.com wishes for a white guy to be found his comments are just as bigoted as anyone who might have said they wished it was a Muslim. Why? because Muslims are protected under hate crime legislation in this country… in some cases they have more privileges then “white guys” on the right. Did you know that while TSA pats down Nuns, grannies and little kids.. Muslim women can only be patted down about the head and neck. As the left was gleefully suggesting it was a disgruntled right winger responsible I did not see one person suggest they shouldn’t be jumping to conclusions… yet if someone would dare to mention they may be  Islamic extremists you were profiling and being an “islamophobe”. Here is the difference in perception… where leftists see white privilege and bigotry as the cause for White guys to think that way …..here is the real reason… over 40 years now radical Islamists have been wreaking horror around the world especially towards Americans (the great Satan). All these attacks just happened to be committed by middle easterners who practice an extreme form of Islam… being suspect of event that appears to follow the same MO as other Jihadist attacks is not being bigoted or Islamaphobic… it is using reason and common sense and recognizing where acts similar to these have historically originated. That is called critical thinking… not bigotry.

Finally the greatest of all ironies is that the left is doing to a large group of Americans, who for the most part have done nothing to anyone, what they fear will be done to the Muslims… Biggest difference the percentage of Christian Extremists killing people in the name of Jesus is minuscule compared to the number of Muslims who want to see us dead…  and are determined to kill as many of us as possible…. all for the Glory of Allah and for the Caliphate.

I am not blaming all Muslims. For my former parish I was on the Muslim-Christian interfaith committee… The truth is Islam has a problem that only the peace loving Muslims can solve… until then… until they can denounce and actually take action to reclaim their faith in an active way… sadly, because of their extremist brethren, they will at times fall under suscipicion… that is not hatred, bigotry but fact … it is not caused by white guys hating them but by other dark skinned guys hijacking their religion and killing hundreds if not thousands of innocent people.
